Writing With Practice sets a focus on the word with. The aim of the seminar is to bring together different strategies and voices of writing with a practice; a practice that sustains and develops a long-term commitment and coherence. It is not writing as practice, or writing about a given practice. It is writing as a tool for thinking with, and a tool for connecting different types and approaches of working as an artist. It is the challenge to think through critically yet constructively what is the role of writing, what kind of writing is most fruitful and productive, how and why, and yes, for whom?
Writing with practice is an invitation to participate in the discussions of both the current stage and the future possibilities of practice based artistic research. It is a research in which writing is not illustrative, it is not explanatory, and it is not instrumentalizing.
It is, well, something else. It is writing with.
